This week has gone by fast. Sunday after church we had dinner with Bishop and at the end we were able to give service by helping them move a large piece of furniture over to non-member's place. The non-member family then wanted us to come by that night and share a message. So that night at eight we went over intending to share the restoration with the whole family. However, when we got there the mom let us in and then sat us by her two sons talking the whole time about how she likes what we do and how she is open to all religions that the whole point it is to be a good person and that she wants us to teach her kids to be good people. Then she gave us each a plate with a sandwich and chips and left telling the kids to talk to us. That took us by surprise. So we spent the meeting talking with them about their likes and dislikes and really just getting to know them. We started going and the mom told us that she wanted us to meet with the kids once a week. So we did get a whole new family to teach, but now we have to figure out a way to be able to involve the parents.
The concept that any religion will do is interesting. Many of the people that I have taught on my mission talk about how they had their religion that they went to because they liked the preacher. And then when they moved they found another religion that they liked and then they just started going to that church. It makes me so glad that we do have a true church with the ability to change for the best by repenting. As Elder Holland said this last conference "With the gift of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the strength of heaven to help us, we can improve, and the great thing about the gospel is we get credit for trying, even if we don’t always succeed."Just stand up and keep walking."
"Never give up, never surrender!"
